Semuc Champey, a remote, but very popular backpacker destination. Different levels of turquoise pools hidden in the lush jungle near Lanquin are the thing that draws travelers into the jungle. Let me tell you everything you need to know on how to visit to Semuc Champey.

The temperature is pleasant year round, but from December until April there’s less of a chance of rain. I was there during in januari during the high season, so I got beautiful warm and dry weather and I was surprised that it wasn’t crowded at all.
How to get to Semuc Champey from Lanquin
From your hotel walk into town and you’ll run into several trucks yelling ‘Semuc Champey’. Pay 25 Quetzals and hop 0n the back of one of them. Prepare for a bumpy ride. It takes about 50 minutes to get to Semuc Champey and locals also use the trucks as taxi’s so it may get pretty full in the back. The ride is an adventure in itself and to me quite a fun experience.
